Laurene brings more than eleven years of experience in visitor services and destination marketing to the Queensland Country Tourism team. Her career has been shaped by a genuine passion for helping people discover the places, stories, and experiences that make a region shine. From her time at the Toowoomba Visitor Information Centre and within the private sector, Laurene has developed a deep understanding of how thoughtful visitor engagement and strategic marketing come together to create memorable journeys.
With qualifications in events, tourism and social media marketing, Laurene’s background also includes time in the travel industry as a marketing coordinator. There, she created touring maps, shaping destination routes for small-group journeys, and managed an inspirational travel website designed to spark curiosity and confidence in travellers planning their next adventure. She has a natural talent for bringing clarity and creativity to information, ensuring visitors feel informed, inspired, and excited about where they’re going.
Beyond tourism, Laurene works as a freelance photographer, specialising in beautiful homes and gardens, boutique accommodation and small business branding. This creative lens allows her to see destinations through the eyes of a guest, strengthening her ability to support teams in presenting the region with warmth, authenticity, and genuine appeal.
Laurene is proud to contribute to tourism in a way that blends experience, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the landscapes and communities that make the region so special. Outside of work, she enjoys pottering in her garden, spending time with her grown-up family and is supported by her husband who encourages (or fears) every new idea.
