Gummingurru - Toowoomba Region

Experience a fascinating tour of Gummingurru, a men’s ceremonial site estimated to date back some 4000 years.

Aboriginal people from across south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales, would use the men’s site enroute to the gatherings in the Bunya Mountains to coincide with the ripening of the Bunya pine nuts. Young men would be initiated at Gummingurru and other sites before continuing on to participate in ‘men’s business’ at the Bunya nut festivities.
